Morgan County EMA is passing out NOAA All Hazard Radios

Morgan County Emergency Management is passing out N.O.A.A. All Hazard Radios to residents of Morgan County. The purpose of this project is to get these radios in mobile homes or those homes that might not be able to afford them otherwise. Instructions are included with the radio on how to program and operate the radio. Only one radio per household allowed. The Midland WR-120 All Hazard Alert Radio: All Hazards means the radio is the fastest, most reliable means of receiving information on life threatening weather such as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, winter storms, ice storms as well as civil emergencies such as Amber alerts, hazardous explosions, fire and chemical spills. This information is broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can stay informed no matter what time of days it is. It has the function of S.A.M.E.(Specific Area Message Encoding) This give you the opportunity of screening out unwanted broadcasts and receiving alerts only specifically targeted for the geographical area you live in. These radios are in limited supply.  If interested in  receiving a radio please  contact  us at (765) 342-8467

The Mission of the Morgan County Emergency Management is to reduce loss of life and property and protect our county's critical infrastructure from all types of hazards through a comprehensive, risk based, emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.  Our "goal" is to help our citizens prepare for and cope with any type of emergency.

Our primary responsibility is to maintain the county's emergency operations plan.  This document coordinates all fire, law enforcement, medical and allied disaster agencies.  A large portion of our office's responsibility is to educate the general public and businesses on disaster preparedness and response.  Our office is also responsible for emergency communications for the community in the event of a large-scale failure.

Morgan County Emergency Management also houses the American Red Cross in the Emergency Management building located at 1789 E. Morgan St., Martinsville, IN 46151.  This is an organization that works closely with the Emergency Management at all times especially during a disaster.  To contact the American Red Cross you need to call 765-342-2705.

While the Director and Deputy Director are part time we strive to keep fire, law enforcement, medical and allied disaster agencies along with the general public informed of changing emergency conditions throughout Morgan County.
